I settled my parents' estate in 2012, and I realized the importance of estate planning. I sought out a couple of trusted men in our community (Christian, older and wiser) and asked for their assistance in identifying organizations (local and global) that I might include in my own estate planning. In both cases, the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission was mentioned. I attended a few Rescue Mission events and met their president and other staff. I also attended an orientation and tour, and I received financial statements. Lastly, I recently attended one of their graduation ceremonies held at a local church. I heard many testimonies from graduates stating, "If I hadn't found the Rescue Mission a year ago, I don't think I'd be here [living] today."
It is evident to me that the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission is performing a duty of service to our community that both fills a huge need and makes a demonstrable difference in the lives of those who join and complete their twelve month program. Lives are not only saved from drug and alcohol abuse, but men and women are finding a saving relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
